Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
  • Registered Nurse in good standing  (or eligible to become registered) with CRNS.
  • Minimum 3 years in community health nursing experience in First Nations community an asset.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues facing First Nations people.
  • Good understanding of population health principles and concepts.
  • Must be able to work as an effective team member and to work independently, in a self motivated manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license, work flexible hours, possibility of some evenings and some weekends.
  • Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures. Knowledge of Plains Cree Language is a definite asset.
  • Must provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector.
  • Must be computer literate.
