The Healthy Living program consists of sessions focusing on lifestyles, healthy eating, physical activity, food preparation and grocery store tours. There are three main services within this program:
Build-a-Meal: participants learn and demonstrate basic cooking skills while making healthy food for their families.
Community Kitchens: Participants meet monthly to plan and prepare three healthy meals to take home to their families. Each participant contributes money for food expenses and this is matched by the program. Childcare and transportation is provided as needed.
Community Gardens: With sample plots planted by garden outreach staff, participants learn how to plant, weed, harvest and prepare garden produce. Garden outreach staff model physical activity and healthy eating through their day-to-day garden work and through the weekly events implemented at the garden site.
We're always looking for talented and enthusiastic people who are motivated to make a difference in their communities. Explore our open opportunities today.
